Radiology Appointments

When you have been referred for a Radiology Examination by your health provider, an appointment can either be made by phone or in person.  See the "contact us" page for further details.

Once you have booked your appointment, you will receive an information leaflet explaining the nature of the examination and preparation if required.  If you have booked your appointment over the phone, the information leaflet will be sent by post, otherwise a leaflet will be given to you in the Radiology Department.

On arrival in the Radiology Department you will be asked various questions pertinent to the examination you are about to undertake.

In particular you may be asked about: diabetes, asthma, kidney problems, thyroid conditions, allergies and medications (for example warfarin).

For some examinations, particularly fluoroscopy and ultrasound, the Consultant Radiologist may be able to give you a preliminary report at the end of the examination.  However, all full reports will be sent promptly to your health provider (GP, Consultant, or Health Practitioner).

For detailed information on different types of Radiology examinations see the Royal College of Radiologists Patient Information link on the left.
